The show description says it best: ‘No Ordinary Antique and Salvage Fair.’ This lifestyle event has everything to inspire the vintage lover or interior designer in us all, and it’s a brilliant place to start sourcing unusual, exciting decorative pieces—some period, some modern, but always good quality. Predominantly a trade fair, it’s ideal for finding both interior and exterior decorative pieces and garden ornaments. With over 150 stalls, it pays to arrive early for a full day of scouring every inch. We decided to visit last minute in search of inspiring design motifs, not knowing whether the mood would be classic or contemporary—as it turned out, both were catered for in abundance.

A stand-out display: the eclectic mix of French Chateaux and country pieces at The Orangery Antiques Ltd. Beautiful period mirrors with amazing patinas are perfect for any style of interior, and we also loved the exquisite vintage Herbarium pressed botanical studies, mounted in charming frames suited to any room. It was hard to resist this interior designer’s dream stand.

If your taste leans toward more historic decorative pieces, try Youlls Antiques. From highly ornamental Napoleon III table jardinières to miscellaneous Oriental ephemera, it offers fantastic, multicultural inspiration.

All in all, it made for a very enjoyable and relaxing day—amazing food, goat curry, and live music to send us off. It left us already looking forward to next year. Plan your own visit at the Henley Decor Fair website.
